STEVEN J. BELLINO

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTIONIST

Steven J. Bellino is a nationally certified Traffic Accident Reconstructionist and the President of California Traffic Specialists. Mr. Bellino served with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for twenty-seven years and retired at the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Bellino served for four years on the Sheriff’s Department’s specialized Fatal Accident Investigation Team (FAIT).

Mr. Bellino is nationally accredited and certified as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR). He has also been certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), California Office of Traffic Safety, and U.S. Department of Transportation as a Master Instructor in Occupant Kinematics and Occupant Protection Systems.

Mr. Bellino’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University Long Beach. Mr. Bellino holds a Lifetime State of California Teaching Credential from U.C.L.A. Mr. Bellino teaches at the community college level. Mr. Bellino was an instructor in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s advance traffic accident investigation courses for over twenty years. He currently teaches Defensive Driver Training courses for the State of California, the County of Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles, and various cities throughout Orange County.

Mr. Bellino was selected as a member of the Statewide Traffic Accident Review and Development Committee for the Department of Justice, Commission of Peace Officer Standards and training which developed and designed each of the four traffic accident investigation courses (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Reconstruction) which are presently utilized by all law enforcement agencies and college districts in the State of California.

Mr. Bellino has investigated and reconstructed over 5,000 traffic collisions. He has completed over 1,500 hours of specialized training in traffic investigation, reconstruction and biomechanics. He is proficient in all areas of accident reconstruction , biomechanics, occupant kinematics, occupant protection systems, and fraud. The majority of his training was completed at the University of North Florida – Institute of Police Technology and Management, Northwestern University – Traffic Institute, California State Polytechnic University Pomona – TPMI, and Texas A&M University.

Mr. Bellino is a court recognized expert in all of the various elements of traffic accident investigation, reconstruction, and biomechanics. He has given testimony in over 150 trials in both criminal and civil cases, and he is thoroughly familiar with court procedures and decorum.
